Interview

Where are you in your testing journey?

I would say that I’m still very early in my testing journey. I returned to Citrix as a graduate six months after finishing my final year of a BEng in Electronic Engineering. I’m starting to get the hang of testing products for accessibility issues in relation to how well they comply to WCAG guidelines. It’s still early days but I look forward to developing my testing skills and continuing to test products to make them better for everyone!

The best bug you have ever found?

The best bug I’ve found so far had to be my first. During my internship I was tasked with checking that a range of cloud platform features were ready before their general release to the public. It was so rewarding to be able to find things that needed fixing and then seeing others fix them. It was nice to be able to see in a sense “behind the scenes”.

Advice you would give to Testers?

Keep a record of what you do each day, along with notes on problems you encounter and how you solved them. It’s a lot easier to flick back through either written pages or typed notes to find a solution than it is to try to conjure it from memory a few weeks later. Also, having notes on your achievements over a long period of time can help with progressing forward career-wise.

What does winning mean to you?

Winning for me is being able to look back and see a positive change, whether that be in your own life or in the life of others, and knowing that you contributed to that change. Regardless of the size of change or where things were before, if you could help make things better for the present and future, then that’s winning.
